Electron cyclotron (EC) wave power losses tend to play a significant role in the local electron power balance of a tokamak fusion reactor for electron temperatures above 35 keV as considered for steady-state operation. Using the RAYTEC code a comparative study of EC wave and bremsstrahlung contributions to the local and total power balance in relation to the α-particle heating power was carried out for a range of plasma conditions, wall reflection coefficients of the EC waves, and magnetic fields.
