The performance of radiative coolers are directly affected by their constituting materials’ optical properties and micro-structures. Here, we investigate the effects of optical properties and microstructure on radiative cooling performance, namely solar reflectance and emittance at 9-13 μm region. The aim is to provide guidance to reach the ideal radiative cooler. Inspected phenomena are included but not limited to Mie resonance, light scattering, effective medium theory.
