Recent progress in charmonium and exotic states has been reported in this proceeding. Using the data samples collected by the BESIII experiment, the mass and width of Y states have been extensively studied in hidden and open charm channels. The processes of e+e− → hηc, e+e− → ηψ(2S ) and e+e− → ωχc1(2) are used in the search for new charmonium states. Additionally, new measurements of the X(3872) and the search for C-even states with radiative transition are presented.
